Last year I was in charge of all graphics for Bradley University’s 2014 Homecoming celebration. My client wanted something unique which would stand out to individuals passing the posters. I decided to style my posters after the phenomenal Petros Afshar because his use of geometric shapes and bright colors allows for the posters to be distinct. I used the colors of Bradley, white and red, along with a dark brown background since that is what Afshar uses in most of his work. I was pleased with the outcome, and it was incredible to see my work displayed around campus for a month.
For my Senior Project I chose to create an awareness campaign for a non-for-profit organization that is struggling for attention and support. The Pulmonary Hypertension Association: Midwest Chapter has been tying to gain support since they were established three years ago. The organization’s main obstacle is that Pulmonary Hypertension is an incredibly rare disease which has little publicity. The goal of this campaign is to try and lure individuals who are unfamiliar with the disease and educate them. This is done predominantly through posters as well as a save the date. This project was very special for me because it was the first time I was able to use my design abilities to try and make a difference.
This is a combination of several freelance projects I complete as well as some internship work. I enjoyed every one of these projects because with each one I was able to understand the Adobe CS6 programs better and improve my skills with each assignment.
Digital illustration is something that I picked up my senior year of high school and have been in love wtih ever since. Whenever I have a free second it seems like I am either drawing on my tablet, or coming up with what I would like to draw next. If it were not for my enormous fascination for digital illustration I would have never found my passion for graphic design.
